Final Project research- Sabrina
The work I'm going to use as a stepping stone will be work by David T. Cho. I am also interested in the theme of decomposition/wreckage and how something breaks down, like a building. I am might incorporate Cho's work and this theme together. I love the way these portraits have so much depth and dimension in the faces. The use of colour that we normally wouldn't incorporate to a face work well; they unify the portrait. The variety of tone and texture is awesome. For the bottom two photos of wrecked houses, I enjoy looking at the skeletal structures and scattered feeling. -Sabrina Li

Interesting view/ connection. Do you know these places in the second image?
ReplyDeleteWhere do you see these images, and the places (two different things)? Can you relate to them?
The second two images were off the internet :) however, i can probably do more research by visiting other construction sights for more real life inspiration and take photos. Currently, I plan to relate them by having a face painted in a similar style as David T Cho's work. and gradually, as it gets close to the bottom of the canvas or whatever base i plan to use, it will gradually turn into bits and pieces of a wreckage. This will be like the demolition of something (a person) if we look from the top to bottom but it can also be seen as the build up of a person if we look from the bottom to the top.
ReplyDeleteInteresting idea. but it'll be unlikely to be seen as a reverse- building up of a person- by audience as a person is not made of some materials.. Think about something a subject and the materials that is made up of. Why stick to a human figure? and I can imagine 3D with your description, are you interested in that at all?
